Large 24" Double Sided Gents of Leicester Railway Clock

£0.00
Out of Stock

Exceptional example of an industrial 24" double sided clock manufactured by Gents of Leicester. c.1940

Salavged from a railway station in the north of England during a refit in the 1990s and stored ever since. In incredeible condition with original black factory paint. The inside of the clock looks as though it had never been opened. Double sided clock, suspended from the ceiling via chain. The tapered hands running perfectly on the original slave movement which now has benefit of a modern mains powered impulse driver giving that synonomous mechanical 'clunk' every 60 seconds.

Rewired with 2m of black twist flex and suspension chain.

About the maker
Gents of Leicester was formed in 1872 by John Thomas Gent and later registered as Gent & Co. In 1903 they produced an electric clock system labelled as the 'Pul-syn-etic' - a master and slave series of clocks that would go on to revolutionise the workplace and public spaces alike. Gents' electric clocks can still be found in public buildings, railway stations and factories all over the world to this day - a testament to their superior design, build and quality. In the field of electric clocks, Gents products were routinely specified by architects for their simple style, quality, reliability and foolproof installation in any situation.
