The pestle head and mortar are both made from vitrified porcelain - an incredibly dense and tough material. The handle of the pestle appears to be a hardwood and is very tactile. The underside is embossed 'WARRANTED ACID PROOF' and the number 9. A great decorative item for the kitchen!
