Mid-Century French Butchers Neon Trade Sign

£2,250.00

An incredibly rare French neon butchers trade sign. c.1950.

A characterful hanging neon sign from a French butcher’s shop, its metal body finished in a flocked‑velvet coating that has worn beautifully over time. The surface shows soft, mottled ageing, with the original glass tubing still glowing in a cool blue - Gibiers, Primeurs, Volaille - a concise snapshot of the produce and game typically advertised in traditional boucheries. Some losses to the gilt brass edging.

Suspended from twin chains, the sign has strong graphic presence and a wonderfully utilitarian charm.

The internals checked, restored, tested and certified by a specialist in neon lighting.
