About the maker
Faraday & Son were a respected London makers of gas and later electric light fittings, founded by Robert Faraday — elder brother of Michael Faraday — in the 1820s. Three generations refined the firm’s brass and glass craftsmanship, earning a reputation for well‑engineered, classically detailed lighting. In 1925 they merged with F. & C. Osler to form Osler & Faraday Ltd, leaving a legacy of quality fittings from the transition between gas and electric light
